The DIR Zone 180 cm Alert Marker Pro, is an important piece of equipment in a dive team. Every diver should carry the DIR Zone 120 cm Alert Marker Pro, as that is meant for underwater deployment. We use a smaller closed circuit surface marker with a spool, as it is controllable, as serves its purpose by informing boats/jet skis that diver is ascending, and is jam free while allowing us to deploy from depth.

However, certain surface conditions might have high choppy waves, and this makes the 120 cm version difficult to be spotted by the boat. This is where a diver in the team, will deploy the DIR Zone 180 cm Alert Marker Pro using the drysuit or BCD inflator hose.

We unplug the BCD inflator hose to deploy the 180 cm Surface Marker Pro on the surface, as full surface buoyancy has already been established. However, we do not deploy the smaller surface maker using this method underwater, and instead should only be orally inflated.
