The new Apeks MTX-R is based on MTX, a regulator that was developed in accordance with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit extreme cold water test. A first-of-its-kind, over-molded first-stage end cap and environmental diaphragm to prevent ice build-up that could cause a free flow in extreme circumstances. As a result of its design, it has superb protection from impact damage in both the 1st and 2nd stage.

Innovations in design mean that the Apeks MTX-R performs in almost freezing water at a depth of over 60 metres, something that very few others on the consumer market can boast. What we like about the 1st stage is that Apeks, made it a swiveling turret design, with the built-in 5th port. This will allow superb house routing on both single and double configurations.

The second stage is simple to use, with no dive adjustment controls and a reduced chance of free flow. It also has a patented heat exchanger that surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipating the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water.
